As a Content Developer or Instructional Designer working on Distance Learning Instructional Materials, these points below are essentially required to sustain attention retention and maximum assimilation of your peculiar recipients:
1 Ensure the use stories to convey knowledge or to impact the learners. All you need to do is to find a link between the learning outcome you are involved with and the story in order for learners to comprehend as quick as possible.
2 All introduction should be as brief as possible, maximum of three (3) paragraphs, a minimum of just a paragraph. This is to introduce the Study Session.
3 Boxes should help to highlight main points and to make the learners to focus on some certain notes or brief from paragraphs. A box is for emphasis, you cannot put any information in a box which you have not previously addressed in your content.
4 There should be a space before and after your In-Text Question and In-Text Answer. For TRUE/FALSE questions, write the TRUE/FALSE in capital letters or bold it in small letters.
5 Bullets should be used to list items varying from 1-5, for six (6) or more items, lines or statements expected to be neatly arranged, they should be numbered.
6 In infographics, your creativity is highly recommended
7 Also ensure that you DO NOT merger two different study sessions together into one; with exception of studies that you have been required to develop from the scratch with no outlines OR titles like the following;
- Market Structure I
- Market Structure II
- Market Structure III.
For outlines sent to us from schools or courses with their different outlines as specified by the subject matter expert (SME), do not alter the outlines until the SME grants you the permission to. Only if studies have parts like Market Structure I, II, III above. Then after merging, ensure that the requirement (BMAS) of Market Structure for learners (or the studies as the case may be) is the make up of your combined work.
8 Every of your work should be neatly navigated.
9 The summary can only be numbered, very important. Do not bullet summaries.
10 Notes on SAQs also known as (SAAs) Self Assessment Answers is compulsory and should be navigated before your References. For every question, there should be an answer.
11 If the word count in the content you are working with is under 2000 words, please ensure that you make it up to standard. If it requires you to consult other tutors or using other elements to balance up like the Activities, ITQs, Summary, SAQs and Notes.
12 Ensure that every image on all your Instructional design work have a source, with the exception of images that you have worked on in respect of graphics (Infographic design). Infographic design is a visual image such as a chart or diagram used to represent information or data. “A good infographic is worth a thousand words”.
For example the first image has no description and no additional work (needs Source), while the other has red arrows being used by you to describe the image as creative as you can be. This transformation makes entirely different and needing no source.
A colon should be inserted immediately after your course code in the Header section at the top of your page. For example.
